Facebook heads towards 100% renewables in India with CleanMax deal

Facebook Inc has struck a deal to buy electricity from a 32-MW wind farm in India as part of a wider renewables agreement with Mumbai-based CleanMax, the duo said on Thursday.

Under the contract, Facebook and CleanMax will collaborate on a portfolio of wind solar hybrid projects that will feed power into India’s electricity network. More specifically, CleanMax will install, own and operate the capacity, while Facebook will get associated environmental attribute certificates. The plants will be installed in states where some of the social media giant’s facilities are located.
